THIS ISN'T ENLIGHTENMENT

So, here we are in planet earth pre-school. You might say its pre-pre-pre English 101.
Before you can understand the language, you have to learn to write, before you learn to write, you have to learn the alphabet. Ready? This is an “A.”

Whoops! I forgot that before you can learn the alphabet you have to learn some behavioral basics. These are things like don’t hit Larry sitting there next to you with your lunch box – and, it is possible to sit at one of those little desks facing the front of the room without squirming around in your chair and digging your initials into the wood -- and try to understand that the whole world does not revolve around any five year old, much less you.

Also it’s important to keep in mind that nap time is not negotiable. Every body has to take a nap, period. But I will add that I’m not going to force you to really sleep, I just want you to lay down there for a bit and rest your eyes. Okay? (Don’t tell anybody else I said that, and I won’t either.)

Where was I? Oh yes, welcome to kindergarten, everyone. What are our three golden rules? Say it with me now. 1.) Share. 2.) Listen. And 3.) Play nice. Got that? And if you are good boys and girls you will go on to the next class, which is first grade. There you will learn to spell big words, and later to even pronounce them. And if you are very lucky and very good you may even get to use them in a sentence.
